Matthew Ball died from wounds on 15th November, 1914, after having been sent to a base hospital on the coast, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd Yorkshire Light Infantry battalion was part of 13 Brigade, 5th Division, that had arrived in France at the beginning of the war and had been involved in much of the fighting since then most recently during the First Battle of Ypres. |
